FAMILY THERAPY and PARENT COUNSELLING
Families are systems in which each member plays an important role. When one family member is struggling, it affects the entire family system. Difficulties are often not isolated problems, but expressions of an imbalance within the system – this also applies to families who live separately.
Whether in a patchwork family, a more traditional constellation or as a single parent, every family faces the task of shaping daily life so that the needs of all members are acknowledged, without individuals constantly exceeding their own limits. In family therapy, I accompany you in making conflicts more understandable and in developing new ways of being together.
Becoming a parent is a role we grow into without a manual. Even when we do our best, we inevitably encounter our own limits, often outside of conscious awareness. Children are often highly sensitive to relational dynamics and can, through their behaviour, make unprocessed emotional patterns within the family visible.
In my work, I primarily engage with the adults. At the same time, children are included in the sessions in order to make the family system as a whole visible and to give them space to be heard. Changes initiated through the parents can have a relieving effect on the entire system and open up new possibilities for understanding.
In my parent counselling, which is informed by the principles of Jesper Juul, equality, integrity, responsibility and authenticity are central. My aim is to support parents in strengthening relationships within their family. Together, we look at children’s behaviour in the context of their developmental stages and explore what they truly need in order to develop in a healthy way.
This also involves recognising outdated attitudes from earlier parenting models that often continue to shape us unconsciously, and finding a more mindful and responsible way of relating to children. I support parents in strengthening their role as a reliable anchor within the family, offering orientation and fostering respectful, sustainable relationships.
